Why does the GRE have an unscored section?

The GRE test includes an unscored section called the “experimental section.” This section can appear randomly in any order after the very first section, i.e., Analytical Writing.  The experimental section can either be Verbal or Quantitative. Does the GRE give partial credit?

No. For the questions where there are multiple blanks or parts to the answer, you will have to correctly answer all the options. If you answer one option correctly but not the rest, then no points will be awarded to you for that question. It’s either all or nothing.
