The world is changing at a rapid pace. New opportunities are emerging every day, which means tons of new jobs are out in the workforce that offer good pay and benefits. Many of these jobs will keep you on your toes in this ultra-competitive job market. We’ll list the top 10 most earning jobs and careers for the next ten years.

10. Nurse Practitioner

Like Physicians, the demand for Nurse Practitioners is on the rise as more emphasis is placed on preventative healthcare. Nurse Practitioners are registered nurses who have gone through extensive schooling to diagnose and treat patients with various ailments. They work under a Physician’s supervision until they can practice on their own, then take charge of areas like administering medications, helping patients deal with their pain, giving injections, and other similar tasks.

9. Physicians and Surgeons

The aging of the baby boomer generation will cause a significant strain on the healthcare system, therefore increasing demand for these professionals. Physicians and Surgeons are doctors that specialize in certain areas of medicine. Physicians treat any preventative, diagnostic, or therapeutic issues with patients, while surgeons operate on them to fix their problems. Both titles require extensive education leading to 6+ years of school, followed by residencies.

8. Industrial Engineer

The next big push in the manufacturing industry will be towards automation. Industrial Engineers handle anything that’s part of manufacturing a product. This includes everything from testing products and managing inventory to planning assembly line operations and allocating materials for production.

7. Actuary

With more companies beginning to offer health care benefits, the need for actuaries is growing. An actuary analyzes the financial consequences of taking risks and prepares insurance plans that will benefit both the company and anyone insured under them. They also calculate premiums that someone might pay for specific coverage based on their age, sex, family size (and other factors).

6. Accountants

As more businesses operate online and even outsource jobs once in-house, the need for accurate accountants will be higher than ever. Accountants’ roles include but are not limited to:

  • Tracking a company’s financial expenditures.
  • Preparing tax returns for companies and individuals.
  • Managing budgets.
  • Creating reports from data collected by bookkeepers or other accountants.
  • Other financial-related tasks.

5. IT Manager

This career will be in high demand as more and more businesses move to digital platforms. IT Managers’ primary responsibility is to ensure that organizations’ computer systems are running smoothly, and they also play a large part in security measures. This is another role where companies spend vast amounts of money each year.

4. Medical Director

This one might seem like an odd choice amongst such tech-heavy jobs, but with the world’s aging population, there will be more people looking for doctors to treat them. In addition, as advancements in medicine continue to be made, the demand for these more prominent roles will increase. Medical Directors are responsible for overseeing medical staff at hospitals, managing the care, and working with patients once they’re admitted. They also work with insurance companies to approve procedures suggested by doctors if any questions arise about whether it will benefit the patient.

3. Security Specialist

Another high-demand career for this decade. Cyber security becomes a more significant issue as we become more technologically advanced. Security Specialists’ jobs will be to monitor our computer systems and safeguard against cyber breaches. This will be a great job, as companies spend vast amounts of money each year on security that is mainly managed by this position.

2. Software Developers

The need for these positions should increase dramatically in the next ten years. The role of software developers will be to take charge of all the software that runs every aspect of our daily lives, whether on your phone or computer. Internet 3.0 is coming, and when it does, things like self-driving cars and mobile apps that connect you with anything in the world will need software developers to create them.

1. Data Analyst

This position has been in high demand since the information age hit full swing. Data Analysts data mine and get to the bottom of how a company is performing, which can help inform business decisions. With increased data available to collect and analyze, this job should see a significant boost.

(Bonus) Construction Managers

More and more people are moving into the world’s cities, which means a greater need for erecting new buildings. Construction managers oversee all construction efforts (including engineers), ensure quality control, coordinate schedules and budgets, and make sure everything runs smoothly. Although certification is also available, this role requires at least a bachelor’s degree in construction management or a related field. With innovative technologies, it is now possible for remote working so that construction managers can work from home.

Conclusion

The workforce landscape has changed drastically in recent years as more jobs require higher education or skills that weren’t needed before. If we want our kids to succeed, we need to encourage them early on and help them understand what they’re interested in to pursue these career paths when they grow up. One way you can do that is by learning about these ten most earning jobs for the next ten years, so you know which careers will be worth your time investment today!
