Profile of a Pakistani student who got admitted to Virginia Tech PhD program, in electrical & computer engineering, has shared his profile with us.

Virginia Tech had a total graduate engineering enrollment of 1,941 Full time & 337 Part time students for the year 2013. With a total annual tuition fee of $21,000 approximately, it is one of the relatively cheaper graduate schools in the U.S. It is ranked 24th on the top engineering schools in the U.S. and number 19 on the top Electrical & Computer Engineering programs in the U.S.

Recently one of my GRE students from Pakistan got admission to the computer & electrical engineering PhD. program at Virginia tech on graduate research assistantship – which is paying all of his expenses. He has decided to share with us his professional profile so that other students may benefit from it.

Please note that this profile will only help you gauge where you stand but is by no means a confirmation of getting in Virginia Tech.

Why Virginia Tech? Well, the reason is pretty obvious i.e. Virginia Tech. offered me a teaching assistantship that paid my full tuition fee. I applied to only three universities in fall 2012 so that I could get a better understanding of admission process. My actual plan was to apply for Fulbright scholarship in 2013. By mere luck I got into VT and I decided not to take a chance and went ahead with the available option. I contacted a lot of professors in the U.S. asking them for tuition support and I got it from Virginia Tech.
