For all Pakistani journalists or aspiring journalism students, this is an exciting opportunity for you to pursue a fully funded course in your area of interest. The enrolment process for the fellowship in journalism innovation program is now open for 2014-15 academic year. This course is conducted at Harvard University, by the Nieman Foundation which allows Pakistani scholars to choose a specific course for research or opt for a project which is related to journalism innovation. The Nieman Berkman Fellow will be working at two centers of Harvard University – the Nieman Foundation for Journalism and the Berkman Center for Internet & Soceity. Apart from this, the enrolled Pakistani scholar has to spend his/her education period within the premises of Cambridge – the area where Harvard is based. A stipend of $60,000 spread over ten months will be awarded to the Pakistani scholar. Last date for submission is January 31, 2014.
Eligible Subjects: For a scholar to successfully get accredited with the fellowship, he/she should choose a specific course to research on or a related project on the topic of journalism innovation.
Degree Level: Fellowship is open for candidates who do research on a specific course or specific project on journalism innovation.

Scholarship Description:
The Nieman Berkam Fellowship in Journalism Innovation is committed to ushering at least one person into the Harvard University for the 2014-15 academic year, to pursue studies on a specific course or specific project which is closely related to the subject of journalism innovation. The Nieman Foundation for Journalism and the Berkman Center for Internet & Society collaborate to bring about the fellowship program. Both these divisions of Harvard are committed to excellence and innovation in journalism besides boosting it in the digital space. They have an existing record for successfully running fellowship programs which allow an individual to collaborate and learn with those in the Harvard community.
Number of Scholarships: 12
Duration of Scholarships: The duration of the fellowship is for 10 months.
Award of the Scholarship: The Nieman-Berkman fellow will be given a stipend of $60,000 split over 10 months. It is sponsored by the Nieman Foundation which also entitles fellows to varied housing, health care and children allowances based on their financial status.
Selection Criteria: The selection panel will select student on the basis of:
• Personal skills, essay and presentation
• Academic and professional qualification
• Proactive response to challenging tests
Notification: The final interview for shortlisted candidates will be held in spring and fellows who satisfy the criteria will be intimated in April.
