For instance, Re: flex, a material created by IDE graduate Karlijn Sibbel, can be utilized as a thermal actuator in engine cooling systems. Furthermore, with the increasing need for carbon mitigation in today’s world, the ability to rely solely on renewable energy to power transport systems, such as in electric cars, is the only way forward. This program will allow me to break through that glass ceiling that stands over me as a passionate, design-oriented female engineer, hindered by my country’s limitations in innovation in STEM and women in STEM.
