If you are a business school aspirant, then the GMAT test is one of the most important tests you will ever take in your life. GMAT has remained the industry standard for business school admissions for decades. The reason admissions boards rely on it so heavily is that countless studies have shown a positive correlation between GMAT scores and grad-school performance.

Thanks to the internet, there are so many options to prepare for the GMAT currently. You will find a plethora of courses that provide quality lessons and practice material. However, it is essential to know what sort of features you would get with a particular course beforehand.

I have reviewed many GRE and GMAT courses over the years, and today I will be taking a look at E-GMAT. E-GMAT is an online test-prep company that specializes in GMAT, and they are based out of India. I will be going over the features they offer and point out some of the things that could be better.

E-GMAT at a Glance

At a glance, E-GMAT seems like a good GMAT course. They advertise a host of features on their website and take pride in the abundance of positive reviews from test-takers. The E-GMAT course is a comprehensive GMAT course that covers the entirety of the GMAT test. The most popular available plan is “GMAT Online,” which is valid for 6 months.

The said plan offers both Verbal and Quant lessons with 90+ hours of video lessons for Quant and 70+ hours for Verbal. Moreover, you also get 2200+ combined practice questions and exercises. One distinct feature that E-GMAT offers is its “Scholaranium” service that comes with the plan above. This neat feature lets you take 20 or more “ability” quizzes to help you pinpoint your strengths and weaknesses to optimize your study plan better.

Lastly, E-GMAT’s customer support is regarded as one of the best in the industry. You can submit questions while taking a lesson, and an instructor will reach out to you with a solution the other day. The course also offers some 10 full-length GMAT tests, which is higher than most test-prep courses.

PROS:

NEAT and Organized User-Interface

One of the first things I notice using an online course is how it is delivered. Is it a clunky mess with complex navigation, or is it intuitive and easy-to-use? Fortunately, E-GMAT has an excellent layout. I like the UI as it is straightforward, easy-to-use, and lacks needless clutter.

The home-page of the course displays essential metrics related to your progress. You also receive your average score once you begin doing activities and the total time spent.

Beneath the analytics, you will the different modules containing verbal or quant lessons. You use the “courses menu” at the top left of the screen to choose either quant or verbal. Once you click on either section, you have displayed all the video lessons and exercises about that section.

The font and the color scheme is straightforward yet effective. All in all, I had no trouble navigating through the course, and I didn’t feel any frustration caused by the UI. I found everything where I thought I would see them, and thanks to the excellent organization of the course, I didn’t have any difficulty jumping from one section to the other.

High-Quality Video Lessons and Delivery

One of the most important aspects of a test-prep course is undoubtedly the lessons themselves. That’s the whole point of taking a course in the first place, right? First, let’s discuss the videos’ quality, and then I’ll talk about the delivery.

As far as the quality of the videos is concerned, E-GMAT’s video lessons are HD quality. I am particularly impressed with how sharp everything looks, the text, and the figures and diagrams. Although the video lessons are presented in a power-point fashion, I didn’t get that sluggish feeling like I did with Magoosh.

The video lessons seem rehearsed, which gives them a professional feel. The instructors sound like they know what they are talking about, and I love it that there are no awkward pauses during the lessons. Some people may like the “Human Touch,” but I like video lessons to be smooth and uninterrupted.

As for the delivery, I can safely say that the video lessons are detailed and numerous. The instructor carefully breaks down each aspect of a topic and goes through them step-by-step. I had no difficulty following the instructions, and if you have a question, you can easily submit it.

Comprehensive Coverage

The E-GMAT course is incredibly comprehensive. You will find every topic and sub-topic that pertains to the GMAT test. If it has anything to do with GMAT, you are likely to find it. Video lessons are broken down into separate modules. Each module is made up of a series of activities and lessons. You can easily find a specific topic under the respective section. Topics are titled as broad subject areas, for example, Number Properties. When you click on a particular topic, you can see all the relevant sub-topics and their lessons and quizzes.

Exceptional Support

One of the things that set E-GMAT apart from other companies is its sublime customer support. Representatives are available 24 hours a day, and they are accommodating. Moreover, even during a video lesson, you can easily do so if you feel like asking a question. All questions are answered within a day by relevant experts.

High-Quality Practice Questions and Full-length Tests

Practice questions might be the most critical resource in any test-prep course right after the video lessons. You can learn all the concepts you want, but you will hurt your score if the practice material is not high-quality. That being said, E-GMAT’s practice questions and full-length tests are highly reliable. They resemble the actual GMAT questions, and although they are not identical to the real thing, they do come very close.

Moreover, you get access to 10 full-length mock tests, which are crucial for a good score.Practice is the name of the game, and the more questions and tests you can solve, the better your chances of achieving a high score. E-GMAT calls its mock-test system “Sigma X.” Since the actual GMAT test is computer-adaptive, you would want the course to replicate that. Thankfully, E-GMAT has a unique adaptive system that uses 5 various engines to work out the questions’ difficulty.

CONS

A Little Pricey

I have to say that the E-GMAT course is a little pricey considering that other reputable test-prep companies such as Magoosh offer their courses at much lower prices. Let’s take Magoosh as an example; its “Premium” GMAT plan costs only $250 and is valid for a whole year. E-GMAT, on the other hand, costs $350 for only six months.

Moreover, since I have used both Magoosh and E-GMAT, I know that they are both pretty close regarding quality and features. Hence, if you chose Magoosh, you wouldn’t be missing out on too much. They both offer a comprehensive solution for GMAT prep and all the relevant features that come with it. However, E-GMAT has no score based money-back guarantee, which again favors Magoosh. Magoosh will refund your money if you fail to improve a certain amount of points.

No Mobile App

I was disappointed to find out that E-GMAT doesn’t have a mobile app. A mobile app may not seem like a big deal to many, but it can be a lifesaver when you are on the move. You cannot bring your laptop everywhere with you, and some scenarios, such as waiting for a doctor’s appointment, requires a smaller device. Having a mobile app can give you that extra flexibility when you are not at home. You can utilize your smartphone on long commutes or whenever you have spare time. This, however, is not the case with E-GMAT, and I have to count it as a con.
